Baptism at Sakeji

There have been quite a few requests by various senior students to be baptised. So Sakeji is planning on having a baptism as part of the end of term program for term 2, 2011. A little background on believer's baptism from the Scriptures...

a.. It is an act of obedience to the Lord, following salvation, Acts 2:41.

b.. It does not save someone, nor wash away their sin, nor cause sin to be forgiven, but rather it is an act which follows on from salvation, Matthew 28:19; Acts 8:12; Acts 10:47.

c.. It means to immerse or dip and New Testament references would seem to indicate that believers were put under the water to be baptised, Acts 8:38,39.

d.. It is a symbol or picture of what has happened in the believer's life, when they trusted Christ as Saviour. It pictures burial (as a Christian, we have died with Christ) and resurrection (we now live in Christ), Romans

6:1-4; Colossians 2:12.

e.. It is separate from 'church' fellowship.

All intrested in attending the baptism should meet at the river playground at Sakeji at 1:00pm.

End Of Year Disc Problems

Our apologies, but it seems that the 2010 end of year discs that where made had a problem with them. The disc contain the image of the files ready to be burned to disc rather than the files on the disc itself. Those files can be used to burn a disc, or if you would rather bring your disc back at the beginning of term one, we will have a new one for you. Who knows there may even be a little bonus feature added in. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

The Sakeji Canyon

The main road from Mwinilunga to Sakeji crosses four main rivers, with the
Sakeji river as the last one before the plain and then the Sakeji School
turn-off. Erosion of the road at the Sakeji river near its source due to
heavy rains has almost cut us off from the rest of Zambia. This picture was
taken of the road yesterday, with the wash-away now the main feature! Should
we call it the Sakeji Grand Canyon?

It is certainly not so "grand" to anyone wanting to travel this direction.
It is doubtful if small vehicles will be able to get through on this route.
Even the alternative road through Ikonga is impassable. Try flying!

Devotions in the Boys' Dorm

One of the real privileges of Sakeji School is the morning and evening
reading of the Scriptures. We feel it is such a privilege and a real
responsibility to have a room full of boys listening to God's Word. It is
even more of a privilege for boys to have the opportunity to be taught daily
the sacred text in the dorm and classroom. In the dorm after the reading,
all the boys must answer a question correctly. We do want the Word to enter
deeply into their heart, and to lead them to the Saviour.

New Signs for Sakeji

The senior boys at Sakeji School are to be congratulated for their hard work
in making new signs to direct people to the school. They cut and planed the
planks, designed the sign on paper, transferred the outline to the plank,
and then embedded the lettering with a router, painted the letters, and
finally sanded and varnished the finished product. You can see them putting
up one new sign on a rainy day, happy with the finished product.

Hot Water for the Girls

101_8685

Can you recognize things in this picture? It is taken at the corner of the
girls' dorm (used to be boys dorm before 1994) with the wood burning hot
water heater heating the old tank at the top of the building at the top
middle of the picture. The new tank connected to the older solar panels is
in front of it, and then two new sets of solar water heaters on the left. A
great improvement -- not only were baths warm, but the girls even had hot
water for washing this morning!
